About

ALYCE OOI

HEAD COACH

Coach Alyce Ooi is a highly driven swimmer and multisport athlete, whose determination is fueled by her own initial struggles with swimming. She took part in her first triathlon in 2015 but was one of the lasts to come out of the water. She resolved to improve and came to MySwim where her new chapter began.

With the right guidance, she went on to clinch podium positions at several races such as the Penang International Cross Channel Swim 2018, 10KM Thailand Swimathon 2018, the Port Dickson International Triathlon 2020 and many more.

Her new found love for swimming and drive to influence others inspired her to take up coaching. She is well known for bringing new swimmers to advanced levels in competitive open water swimming. Her coaching philosophy is that with belief in oneself, patience and consistency, anyone can swim at their best potential.

SHAUQIE AZIZ

FOUNDER

Coach Shauqie Aziz is a passionate coach and open water swimmer, who made his first solo swim across the Penang North Channel in 2006. This was before open water swimming was known in Malaysia and he entered the Malaysia Book of Records for being "The Youngest to Swim the Longest Distance" at the age of 15.

Shauqie started MySwim 10 years ago with the dream of providing the best coaching in Malaysia. He enjoys teaching adults who do not know how to swim and guiding them to enjoy swimming. His coaching philosophy is that there is no one-size-fits-all way of swimming – that coaching should be underpinned by a deep understanding of the mechanics of swimming and tailored to achieve the outcome for each individual. He hopes that through effective coaching, more Malaysians will be inspired to swim.

Shauqie is an expert in triathlon swim coaching. He runs the Triathlon Swim Squad, coaches Stroke Correction and Learn to Swim for adults. He has coached internationally in Singapore, Jakarta, London and Perth.
